The Oryx Group as known today was founded in 2011 with the official opening of the Belgian office. Over the next following years Oryx Group successfully expanded to The Netherlands and merged in 2013 with a Bulgarian service provider to be able to support the customer base with a nearshore offering and in a more international environment.

Assist our customers in there digital transformation journey by combining the proximity of our consulting teams in Belgium and The Netherlands with the skilled technical team of nearshore development center in Sofia.

We strongly believe a good peronal life / work balance should be in place in order for people to deliver the brightest and most creative solutions our customers expect. Therefore we do our utmost to give employees the needed flexibility and freedom to achieve this balance.

Geoffrey started his career as functional SAP consultant in 1996 at Digital Equipment. After that he worked at KPMG and SQLI to start Oryx Group in 2011.

Java – SAP Commerce developer

SOFIA (Bulgaria)

You are:

A Java EE developer who designs and implements customer projects. You work on the customer’s premise and in-house at Oryx. You provide a technical expertise in Java and develop applications following the requirements. You have experience of development standards & best practices and produce quality code. You are responsible for (unit)-testing, integration, installation and maintenance of your code.

You work in the software project team and report to the software architect and the project manager. Besides your role as a Java developer, you will also contribute to the growth of our Software Development practice, by consolidating and sharing your knowledge and experience with your colleagues at Oryx.

You have:

  • Master Degree or equivalent by experience
  • You can prove at least 3 years of relevant experience as a Java EE developer
  • You have good knowledge of Java EE framework in general incl. application servers
  • You have hands-on experience with one or more technologies like Wicket, EJB, CDI, JPA, Spring, JSP, JAX-WS, JAX-RS, JAXB, Struts, REST, SOAP, Ajax and JUnit.
  • As developer you can find your way around application servers like JBoss, Tomcat, Oracle WebLogic, IBM WebSphere.
  • Creating unit tests is not unknown to you
  • You have basic knowledge of SQL Server or Oracle SQL, stored procedures and DDL.
    You have a good knowledge of OO and design patterns.
  • You have fluent oral/written communication skills in English

Functional Analyst

Are you ready to take the next step in your career? As a Functional Analyst/Product Owner, you’ll get to work on a wide variety of tasks:

  • You’ll help with planning and organizing functional interviews and working groups, working with the project manager.
  • You’ll be in charge of the content and form of the documents drawn up, making sure to follow the Project Initiation Document guidelines.
  • You’ll be the one carrying out the functional interviews and the working groups up to completion.
  • You’ll monitor the scope within the pre-established framework (you’ll get guidance from the Project Manager or Technical Project Leader).
  • You’ll be the one transferring the content of the functional design to the Technical Analyst/project leader, the technical architect, the development team and the test team.
  • You’ll get to refine the functional design where necessary.
  • You’ll plan, organize and draw up manuals in accordance with the Project Plan, in collaboration with the test coordinator.
  • You’ll be providing functional support for call resolution.
  • You’ll get to draw up the functional estimate for the realization of Change Requests. The Project Manager will always be there to discuss things if necessary.

 

If you’ve got a grasp of Agile methods like Scrum, this’ll definitely come in handy.

Your profile

To really thrive in this role you’ll need to have 3 to 7 years of relevant work experience, as well as experience in several of the following domains:

  • Investigation techniques,
  • Facilitation techniques,
  • Requirement engineering,
  • Business Process Modelling,
  • Data Modelling,
  • Strategy Analysis.
